About Klaro

Klaro is a visual, AI-powered workspace for numbers. Our long-term vision is to help people make better decisions by better leveraging numerical thinking.

Based in Sydney, Klaro is well-funded and backed by top Australian investors including Blackbird, Side Stage Ventures, Our Innovation Fund (OIF) as well as early employees from Canva and THE ICONIC.

A personal note from me (Niklas)

Ever since I was a kid I have always been a designer + engineer at heart, my true self fitting in the intersection of the two. Everything you see in the product, or on our website, has been my design. It's ok. But it pales in comparison to what I think is possible. My hands simply don't do our vision justice. This is where you come in.

Without you Klaro won't live up to its potential. I need a design partner. I am not sure who invented water but I'm pretty sure it wasn't the fish. I need someone who surprises me. Someone who can raise the bar. Someone with a more capable set of hands to translate our joint team efforts into the right designs. And lets be clear, I am not interested in someone who wants to be told what to do. I am interested in someone who wants to lead design at Klaro and put their stamp on it. I want an opinion. I direction.

Let's build the future of numbers together. Without you it won't be possible. We need you.

About the role

Klaro is seeking a curious, ambitious designer to lead our product and design work. Working across the full design stack, you'll own projects from start to finish.

Other than the Founder, you are the first designer in the company meaning your voice will shape our entire design language and culture.

Your role is 95% product design, collaborating with users and the team to deliver world-class experiences and building the world's best interface for numbers. Occasionally you will assist brand and marketing work, partnering with freelancers and domain experts.

Examples of things you'll work on:

  • Product design
  • User discovery & research
  • Information architecture
  • UX/UI and interaction design
  • Visual design and collateral

As an early-stage startup, this is a unique opportunity for a talented generalist to shape our entire product and brand journey. Beyond designing amazing experiences, you'll be key in establishing our design culture and your expertise will help build the foundations for our growing company.

About the stack

Product: Figma, Linear, Lovable/Bolt
Website: Webflow
Collateral: Figma, Canva

If you have opinions about the stack we are totally open to changing and augmenting it. We have no strong preferences other than Figma and Linear for product work.

About you
  • You have a strong portfolio showcasing love of craft, taste and attention to detail.
  • You’re creative and self-motivated, thriving in an autonomous environment.
  • You go end-to-end, from initial problem to thoughtfully designed solutions.
  • You are a builder at heart, and extremely good at prototyping (read: AI-native designer).
  • You know how to go fast, and when it's the right time to do so.
  • You understand design principles that ensure usability, accessibility, and scalability.
  • You take pride in your work, especially in the details no one may ever see.
  • You're committed to continuous learning, excited by new design trends and tools.

We're a well-funded startup with significant backing from investor like Blackbird, OIF and Side Stage Ventures, giving us runway for many years into the future. Joining our founding team is a great opportunity for you to do your life's best work, accomplish more in a month than you would in a year, constantly learn new things at a breakneck pace and experience deep camaraderie in the process.

Interview process

The interview process post application is simple.

  1. Informal chats with Niklas and the team to hear our pitch and understand your interests and goals.
  2. A skill-based interview involving a take-home design challenge.
  3. A two-three day paid work trial where you come in and ship with us.

There’s no better way for each of us to figure out if we like working together than to work together.
